I charged both batteries and the D80 came to life. The D300 will not power on. No green light indicator when the battery is placed inside, nothing. I read some of the suggestions on the forum and followed those. After leaving the battery in for 72 hours the display started to slowly come to life.BC appears to be a super cool place, the wife has been threatening a camper-trip from Phoenix up that way. If I had my way I'd sell everything including the 2 dogs and the cat and my prized coffee mug, buy a slightly bigger camper and just go from one end of this hemisphere to the other.Would love to see some samples from both these lenses..have searched the forum but haven't found loads from the zeiss but plenty from the nikon. Also, on the Z 9 there is essentially no loss in AF performance using a TC-14 behind the 500PF or a TC 1.4x behind the 100-400.

The expected D850 shutter life is 200,000. From your experience is the 200,000 conservative or should I factor in a shutter replacement, or just pray it lasts well over 220,000. Anybody have any shutter count data for the D850. Thanks in advance if anybody can help me decide.

Around the time I got the D300, I had replaced nearly all my AF lenses with AF-S. I only saved the 50mm AF and 28mm AF. I just don't think there are a lot of people out there who have moved to mirrorless who are attached to AF lenses enough that they are begging for an FTZ with built in motor. You're not everyone.

The 300 f/4 PF is about as sharp as its predecessor, which is plenty sharp for most people. The 300 f/4 PF + TC-14e III also handily beats the 80-400 at the 400mm end. Even with a TC-17e II at 500mm, I still find the 300 f/4 PF sharp enough on my D810. Encouraging to hear.The Z fc (and similary would a Z50 and Z30) performs incredibly well at high ISO low light. Nikon performs better than the more expensive/newer XT5, R7, and performs similarly to the full frame Sony A7C (which has the sensor from the A7 III). Very impressive. So the D500 gives you more pixels in a DX sized image. If the DX magnification effect is what you are after I suspect the D500 is the better choice.
